By addressing these objectives, the OPEN-ASIA project aims to tackle challenges faced by PCHEIs at national, institutional, and individual levels. This will elevate the competitiveness of higher education and research in India and Malaysia, enhancing their significance as poles of excellence and increasing standards in society.
Promotion of open science culture and building consensus:
Increase awareness and understanding of Open Science (OS) principles among key stakeholders in India and Malaysia through public events and media engagement. Foster national and institutional consensus on OS to ensure sustainability.
Enhancement of university transition to sustainable open science practices:
Develop human capacities through OS courses embedded in formal curricula of Partner Country Higher Education Institutions (PCHEIs). Design five OS training courses covering various skills essential for OS practices.
Advancement of University Open Science Infrastructure:
Develop and implement OS infrastructure at institutional and national levels in PCs. Create a modern research environment supporting Open Access, Open Data, Open Evaluation, and Open education, adhering to FAIR principles.
Embedding Open Science in University Policies and National Regulatory Frameworks:
Adjust legislative frameworks to advance national and institutional guidelines, policies, and incentives related to OS. Promote competition, transparency, and ethics in research and OS activities, supporting talented individuals.
To foster citizen science initiatives:
The project`s will support the development of new Inclusive, Responsible and Collaborative Research and Innovation and Open Science, in the context of safe spaces to involve and engage civil society in the whole science process, by establishing SCIENCE SHOP 2.0 and securing their exploitation and sustainability.
