Capacity Building Workshop 3 (CBW-3)
Capacity Building Workshop on Open Science – Slovenia, November 2024
The Capacity Building Workshop (CBW3) on Open Science took place in Slovenia from November 11 to 15, 2024, as part of the Open Asia and OSCAR 2.0 Projects. The event gathered representatives from partner institutions to discuss the development and implementation of Open Science policies and educational programs.
A key focus of the workshop was the synergy between the Open Asia and OSCAR 2.0 projects, which both aim to strengthen Open Science practices in higher education institutions. The collaboration between the two projects facilitated knowledge exchange, aligning efforts in policy development, capacity building, and the integration of Open Science principles into institutional frameworks.
The workshop featured expert presentations on Open Science principles, accreditation processes, and data management strategies. Participants engaged in group activities focused on course design, policy development, and implementation planning. Institutional visits provided insight into the national Open Science infrastructure and best practices. Additionally, the program included discussions on Open Access publishing, practical demonstrations of Open Science tools, and a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between select institutions to formalize collaboration.
The outcomes of this workshop contribute to the broader objective of strengthening Open Science adoption within partner institutions by developing structured educational programs and policy frameworks. The knowledge and strategies developed during the event will support ongoing efforts to foster more open, transparent, and collaborative research environments across all participating institutions. The continued cooperation between project partners will play a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability and long-term impact of these initiatives.
